2009: (Calgary) Jesse signed with the Stampeders on a practice roster agreement midway through the 2010 season, and was activated in October, dressing for 3 games. On October 29, 2009, scored his final professional football touchdown in a game against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
2009: (Edmonton) Jesse started the first game of the season at running back, carrying the ball twice for five yards and catching three balls for twenty yards. In the first quarter he dislocated his shoulder when he was hit by Bomber linebacker Siddeeq Shabazz. He was then placed on the 9-game injured list for the season and underwent shoulder surgery in August.
2008: (Hamilton) Jesse was on pace for a 1,000+ rushing yards before suffering a season ending ankle injury July 31st vs. Montreal. He finished the year as the club’s leading rusher with 584 yards on 87 carries and five touchdowns. He also had seven receptions for 78 yards.
Career: Jesse was selected by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the first round (sixth overall) of the 2005 CFL Canadian Draft. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Seattle Seahawks in 2005, but was released and joined Hamilton for the remainder of the season. In January 2006, he signed with the Washington Redskins and returned to Hamilton again after he was released. Over four years with the ‘Cats he has accumulated 1797 yards on 285 carries and nine touchdowns and 49 receptions for 630 yards and two touchdowns. Jesse has won CFL Player of the Week Awards six times in his career and the Player of the Month award once (July 2007). He was Hamilton’s nominee for the CFL Most Outstanding Rookie Award in 2005.
College/Personal: Jesse had a four-year standout career at McMaster where he won the Hec Crighton Trophy in 2004 and was invited to the East-West Shrine Game. He left McMaster as OUA’s all-time leading rusher and third in CIS history with 4138 yards. Jesse attended Nelson High School (Burlington, ON) where he led the football team to the Metro Bowl Title. He also competed in rugby, hockey, soccer and discus. Jesse is the son of Neil Lumsden , who played 10 seasons in the CFL as a fullback for Toronto, Hamilton and Edmonton, winning three Grey Cups with the Eskimos.
